Perinatal Center

One of only a few in the state, the Perinatal Center cares for pregnant women with maternal and/or fetal complications and those who are at risk of developing complications during pregnancy.  Under the direction of Joseph Landwehr, MD, a board-certified perinatologist (an OB/GYN who specializes in high-risk pregnancies), the Perinatal Center is supported by a staff of specialists in perinatal care.  Patients and families are provided care using family centered care that recognizes cultural diversity.

A full range of services are available including:

Located on the first floor of Ball Memorial Hospital, the center offers patients spacious rooms for examination.  In addition, the facility's state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment enables staff to examine in detail the fetus’ brain, heart and other vital organs.  The center is also equipped to perform invasive fetal procedures and optional genetic screening.

How do I become a patient of the Perinatal Center?

The Perinatal center is a specialist office, dealing with high risk pregnancy situations. It is required for all patients to be referred by your primary doctor.  If you are not high risk, you may discuss your wishes with your primary care physician to see about a referral.  We will review all request for transfers of care prior to acceptance.  If you are a physician click here for instructions for referring a patient to the Perinatal Center.
