Clinical Trials and Research
The Cancer Center, BMH Medical Research Department and Medical Consultants provide patients with the latest care available through clinical trials. All patients are screened to determine eligibility. This service provides potential access to nationally approved clinical trials to cancer patients in East Central Indiana.
Clinical trials often are an exciting new "cure" in the earliest stages of testing and won't be available for months, maybe years. A clinical trial as defined by the National Cancer Institute is an "organized study conducted in people with cancer to answer specific questions about a new treatment or a new way of using an old treatment." Clinical trials are vital to the quest to improve cancer treatment options. When cancer researchers develop a new treatment, their immediate goal is to show whether the treatment is better or at least equal to existing treatment by designing a clinical trial. Trials are, therefore, essential for the continued deliverance of quality care for cancer patients.

Registered nursing staff, which includes certified clinical research professionals and oncology certified nurses work to provide and administer the clinical trial treatment to patients.
