Mom/Baby Support Group • Tuesdays 1:30-2:30 p.m.
E.F. Ball Medical Education Bldg.
A mother/baby support group facilitated by a IBCLC (a Certified Lactation Consultant). Infant weight checks are offered each week. Topics have included communication skills for new mom and dads, pediatric dentistry, home safety, and infant massage. Periodic guest speakers present information or services suggested by group attendees.
Beginning Steps
Beginning Steps is an introduction to the BMH Birthing Center and the Expectant Parent Program. Meet one-to-one with a Registered Nurse and discuss issues faced early in pregnancy, such as nutrition, pre-term labor, and breastfeeding education. Attendees may sign up for other childbirth classes, and request a tour of the birthing center. Contact Access Services to set up an appointment at (765) 741-1073.

Basics of caring for the baby during the first six months life are covered for new parents, grandparents and other care givers. Topics in the two sessions include bathing and routine care, handling crying, keeping baby safe and healthy, infant CPR, handling infant choking, when to call the doctor, using play to help baby start learning. Helping Those Who Do Not Want Help • Turner Conference on Faith and Medicine. • Auditorium
The disease of addiction or chemical dependency impacts every segment of society: families, workplace productivity, healthcare and the judicial system. Unfortunately, little attention is paid to training caregivers to address addiction or equip loved ones of addicts as to how and when to intervene. Nationally-noted interventionist Bruce Perkins will discuss and demonstrate intervention and how it works. Kal Rissman, staff chaplain at BMH, will add insight into the spiritual nature of the disease of addiction and chemical dependency. Two sessions, 9-11:30 a.m. and 12-2 p.m. Lunch is provided.
