Cardinal QuickCare
Q: What is a "mini clinic"?
A. A mini clinic like Cardinal QuickCare which opened on July 30th, 2007 in the Muncie Mall is open seven days a week to provide treatment for common illnesses and minor health problems. Most visits take about 15 minutes and are very affordable.
Q: Do they accept insurance or Medicare?
A. The clinics vary in what they accept. In the case of Cardinal QuickCare, Medicare is currently accepted and we are contracting with more insurance providers every day. However, the cost of the visit is less than a regular doctor's visit would be.
Q: If I go to a mini clinic, will I see a doctor?
A. Again it varies but often times these clinics are staffed by Certified Family Nurse Practitioners with training and experience in family medicine. These practitioners can diagnose and treat most common illnesses and prescribe any required medications.
Q: Why should I go to Cardinal QuickCare instead of the Emergency Room?
A. Cardinal Quickcare may offer more convenience by the simple fact that it is located in the Muncie Mall, and visits are on a walk-in basis. But another important factor is cost. A trip to the Emergency Department for a non-emergent service will often cost 4-5 times more than a visit to Cardinal QuickCare. The Emergency Department is set up to handle very serious illnesses and injuries where Cardinal QuickCare is geared more towards handling sore throats, poison ivy, ear or sinus infections, flu, allergies or insect bites. In addition to the significant savings, because Cardinal QuickCare handles only minor injuries your wait time will be reduced as well.
Q: Can i have my routine prescriptions refilled at Cardinal QuickCare?
A. Because your previous health records are not available, this is not a service that would be provided by a mini clinic. However, some over-the-counter medications will be available for sale at Cardinal QuickCare and any prescriptions for your presenting illness will be prescribed. No narcotics will be prescribed or dispensed at the clinic.
Q: Can I take my children to Cardinal QuickCare?
A. Yes, the clinic sees patients age two and older. The nurse practitioners are specifically trained and certified to care for all ages.
