The Blackford Community Hospital Laboratory Department takes pride in the staffs' attentiveness to quality issues, timeliness and cost-effectiveness when meeting the needs of both the patient and the patient's physician. The goal of the department is to provide care in a manner the patient readily returns and encourages friends and family to take advantage of the many services provided by Blackford Community Hospital's Laboratory Department. The department is operated and staffed through a contract with Pathologists Associated, which is based in Muncie, Ind. and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Outpatient laboratory services are normally available from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Emergency services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Special arrangements may be made for those unable to arrive during normal hours of service. The laboratory performs more than 100 testing procedures onsite with daily courier service for specialized testing procedures not performed at Blackford Community Hospital. Categories of services provided include:
- Phlebotomy
- Hematology
- Urinalysis
- Coagulation
- Serology
- Chemistry
- Therapeutic drug monitoring
- Microbiology
- Transfusion services
The laboratory is supervised by a board certified pathologist associated by Branam, Willlman, Triplett, Baldwin, & Kochoshis Professional Corp.
