Emergency Department

Blackford Community Hospital has a fully-staffed emergency department operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Access to the emergency department is on the southwest side of the hospital. The emergency department is equipped with six emergency beds, of which two are major trauma beds and four are private examination rooms.

All patients at the emergency department are evaluated immediately upon arrival by highly trained professionals with advanced cardiac life support and/or trauma training. After evaluation, the patient is examined by a skilled emergency room physician who has access to specialty consultation from a wide variety of local and regional healthcare professionals. State-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic services are readily available, along with all necessary equipment and supplies for examination and treatment -- particularly for the management of life-threatening conditions.

As with any emergency room visit, follow-up care for ER patients is provided by the patient's family physician. Emergency department physicians are provided by Preferred Medical Management, Inc. Emergency room physicians are not employees or agents of Blackford Community Hospital.
