What Happens After The Surgery?
As a patient who commits to our program, you will be required to have several follow-up visits at different intervals the first year. The visits will consist of meeting with the surgeon, dietitian and nurse. You will also have lab values drawn at periodic intervals. We will also be available to you during the week via phone or e-mail for non-emergency questions.
At the Bariatric Center at Ball Hospital, we want you to have a successful weight-loss experience. So to help you to adapt to a healthy lifestyle, we are offering you nutritional and exercise counseling.
In your immediate post-op phase, you will have some physical restrictions as with any surgical procedure. As soon as your physician releases you, we will assist you with an exercise program. Your new diet will change as you progress through the program. The first phase will be a protein drink with very small meals. You will advance at four- to six-week intervals as food is reintroduced into your life.
If you follow our regimen of diet and exercise, you can expect to lose a large amount of weight although each patient is different and weight loss is not guaranteed.
