About BMH
Ball Memorial Hospital, a Clarian Health Partner, was founded in 1929 as both a teaching hospital and regional tertiary referral center.
BMH is the largest non-government employer in East Central Indiana, employing nearly 2,500 people with a payroll exceeding $95 million. This not-for-profit organization boasts of a clinical staff of more than 400 physicians, representing over 45 medical specialties.
Ball Memorial Hospital has 1.2 million square feet of facilities and offers an array of services. The Cancer Center provides Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery, and clinical trials supported by the National Cancer Institute.
Cardiology Services- BMH is a regional center for open-heart surgery, and its cardiac program provides diagnostic and interventional cardiac and electrophysiology procedures.
The Total Joint and Spine Center offers hip and knee replacement procedures in a multi-disciplinary healing environment.
BMH is the only facility between Indianapolis and Fort Wayne to offer Perinatology services and a level 3-B Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for the care of high-risk pregnancies and newborns.
“Say hello to our little friend”- the da Vinci Surgical System is the newest member of our surgical team. The revolutionary system gives surgeons the ability to perform even the most complex procedures in a minimally invasive way.
Most recently, the new, patient-centric south wing was unveiled. The $120 million facility includes 300,000 square feet of new and revitalized space, including all-private patient rooms.
Ball Memorial Hospital provides top-quality care and has been awarded with more than 35 top national and international awards to prove its efforts. BMH is the first Indiana hospital to receive NIAHO accreditation for compliance with Medicare rules, the first Indiana hospital to earn the American Heart Association Award for stroke care, and the first Indiana hospital to be awarded with ISO 9001:2000 Certification. BMH is also the third Indiana hospital to obtain “Baby-Friendly” designation from Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) for its commitment to infant health.
The hospital campus is home to the Edmund F. Ball Medical Education Center and includes the largest physician-teaching program in Indiana outside of Indianapolis, with four residency programs and a total of 60 physicians in training. The hospital is affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine and serves as an educational site for the first two years of medical school.
Ball Memorial is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Michael Haley serves as the hospital’s president and CEO.
