Beckman named new
CHS chief Operating Officer

A healthcare executive with almost a quarter century of experience and proven success is the newest member of Cardinal Health System’s leadership team.

 

“As a result of a nationwide search conducted by a committee which included members of our Board of Directors, physicians and management, Cardinal Health System has selected Greg Beckman as its new chief operating officer,” said Robert Curtis, CHS’ president and CEO. “I’m confident Cardinal Health System and our community will benefit greatly from Greg’s experience and long record of success.”

 

Beckman, who starts next week will oversee day-to-day management of the organization. He will work closely with all aspects of the health system to ensure increased effectiveness and efficiency.

 

“Cardinal Health System has a solid reputation as a leader in the healthcare industry,” he said. “In any organization, there is always room for improvement. I look forward to the opportunity to be part of such a strong operation.”

 

Beckman established himself over the years as an executive who capitalized on visionary and innovative ideas that produced positive results for a variety of companies.

 

Most recently, he served as executive vice president for Millgard & Associates, a Missouri healthcare consulting firm. In that role, Beckman was responsible for marketing and consulting services in areas such as operations assessment, performance improvement and strategic planning.

 

Prior to that, Beckman spent 22 years with McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Mich., where he worked his way from administrative assistant to become the center’s president and chief executive officer.  McLaren, the largest subsidiary of a $2 billion healthcare system, consists of a 416 bed not-for-profit medical teaching center; a 38-bed long term acute care hospital, three outpatient satellites and more than 1900 employees.

 

 In the medical center’s top job, Beckman led the facility to a designation as a Top 100 Hospital by Solucient for achieving top-tier operating performance, clinical excellence and community responsiveness.

 

Beckman holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Grinnell College and a master’s in hospital and healthcare administration from the University of Iowa.
