Cancer Services advance practice nurse Trish Avila is a published researcher on the topic of cancer exercise. In her daily position at Ball Memorial Hospital she works in the cancer exercise program, educates staff and conducts hereditary risk assessments.
Her years as a bedside nurse and her passion for helping people and advocacy helps her lead initiatives for patients, as well as staff, she says.
“In my role I am fortunate to see the whole spectrum of the cancer course,” Trish says, “from prevention through remission, and sometimes diagnosis through a healthy death process.”
As cancer and cancer care are changing every single day, Trish wants to stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest options for her patients. She is continually involved in program development and research on nursing and patient-related topics.
